I am Reginald Hickman, principal, and I am absolutely ecstatic about this exciting, new educational endeavor in the Woodland Hills School District.

The Academy has one of the most innovative and dynamic programs in the Commonwealth. Our substantial investment in technology allows for our teachers to develop deep understandings for our students within their core subject areas of Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Teachers and students will use laptops, Ipods, Promethean boards, desktop computers, Kindles and other forms of technology. As a stand alone program, the technology at the Academy will help to develop the necessary skills for students to be competitive in the digital age.
In addition to technology, all Academy students will learn and study Spanish. We believe that students must be fluent in a second language to be at their most competitive in this global economy and flat world of today. Furthermore, numerous studies have shown that students enrolled in a foreign language program achieve at higher levels throughout their educational career.
Research based programs serve as the pillars upon which the Academy is erected. From students wearing uniforms, to swimming for all grade levels, to our increased time on task for reading and mathematics, to our extended school year, we are committed to using the most innovative yet proven methods and techniques to make the Woodland Hills Academy the best school in the Commonwealth.
Our commitment to parents, students, and the community is for students to master the 5 Wells: to be Well Read, Well Spoken, Well Traveled, Well Balanced, and Well Dressed. When our students master these areas they will be ready to reach their goals and fulfill their dreams.
