Welcome to Rankin Intermediate School!

Thank you for visiting the home page of Rankin Intermediate. I am Reginald Hickman, Principal of Rankin Intermediate. Our school is one of three intermediate schools in the Woodland Hills School District.

At Rankin Intermediate, we have approximately 215 students in grades 4, 5, and 6. We have three classes of each grade. We also have three classrooms to support students with special needs. During a school day our students participate in curriculum that consists of Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. We are committed to literacy so our students have 90 minutes of uninterrupted reading instruction. We also provide 90 minutes of mathematics instruction everyday. In addition to the regular subjects taught in a day, the students also participate in Gym, Music, Art, and Library.
We are very excited to say that our school library at Rankin Intermediate contains many new titles this year, in addition to the technology available there to assist students and teachers with research and instruction. In addition to the library, Rankin Intermediate has a computer lab where teachers use technology to help students increase their skill levels. using programs such as Skills Tutor, Study Island, CCC, and Everyday Math games. Also, we have three computers in each of our classrooms.

In order to help us address students' needs, Rankin Intermediate also has two Title I Reading Specialists, Speech and Language services, Guidance Counselor, School Nurse, and Instructional Aides.
Rankin Intermediate also has a very active Parent Teacher Organization. Our parents contribute their time and talents in many ways to make Rankin someplace special.

On Wednesday September 24, 2008 we will have Open House from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm. This will be an occasion for parents to meet and talk with the new principal and the faculty and staff of Rankin. We will discuss our curriculum, instructional techniques, and the plans we have to make this the best school year ever! We are looking forward to meeting everyone who is able to come.

At Rankin Intermediate we have HOPE!!!
