***NEW IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS BEGINNING 2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR***
The Allegheny County Health Department wants every parent/guardian to know that there are new immunization requirements for ALL students in grades K-12. Beginning August 2008, ALL students will be required to have a 2nd chicken pox shot. In addition, those students entering grades 7 through 12 will be required to have the meningitis shot (MCV4), as well as a booster (if not given within the last 5 years) dose of tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis (Tdap).
MAKE SURE YOU CHILD IS A STEP AHEAD! Call your child’s doctor now and get these required shots before the summer rush. You can also obtain these shots for FREE at the Allegheny County Health Department---412-578-8060.
Once your child obtains these shots, please provide proof to your school nurse as soon as possible before school starts in August, 2008. If you have any questions regarding your child’s immunizations, please call your school nurse.
ATTENTION: ALL 7TH GRADE PARENTS: Pennsylvania State Law mandates all students in 7th grade to have a dental examination. You may take your child to a private dentist or give permission for your child to be seen at our school dental program. Please download the dental form for a private exam.
