Pair of Turtle Creek STEAM Academy students earn first and second place in Let's Clean the Air Poster Challenge

Katelyn Pittler poster winner

Congratulations to Turtle Creek Elementary STEAM Academy students Katelyn and Charlotte who were the first and second place winners of the 12th annual LET’S CLEAR THE AIR POSTER CHALLENGE presented by the Pennsylvania Resources Council! Students attending schools in a 10-county region entered the competition during the 2021 – 2022 academic year.

This challenge encourages students to learn about the effects of air pollution and how to reduce their exposure. Then they were asked to take action through a poster campaign promoting clean air and alternative transportation. Students were allowed to create their posters via a variety of media, including watercolor, pen and ink, crayon, marker and charcoal.

A panel of judges selected the first place and second place winners in three categories: Fourth and fifth grade students, sixth through eighth grade students, and high school students. Katelyn and Charlotte's posters will be on display with the other winners in Western Pennsylvania to promote clean air.
