On Monday, November 5, Carnegie Mellon University professor and poet Jim Daniels visited Woodland Hills Junior Senior High School. Mr. Daniels is the founder of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Writing Awards and a former guest of the Woodland Hills Interaction Series. During his visit, he met with students in Ms. Kayla Clair's Creative Writing classes to discuss the awards and encourage students to submit entries.
Earlier this year, Mr. Daniels published a collection of submissions from the writing awards called Challenges to the Dream: The Best of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Writing Awards at Carnegie Mellon University. Woodland Hills is proud to be a participating school in the awards and we look forward to reading what our students submit.
