Dr. Joe Maluchnik
Superintendent
The Woodland Hills School District Board of Directors formally appointed Dr. Joe Maluchnik as the district’s Superintendent during its board meeting on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Dr. Maluchnik came to Woodland Hills from the Wilkinsburg School District, where he served as Interim Superintendent and later as Superintendent for the past four years.
After a transition period, Dr. Maluchnik formally began his tenure as Superintendent of the Woodland Hills School District on March 31, 2025.
“I’m deeply humbled, and I’m honored for this opportunity to be the next Superintendent of the Woodland Hills School District,” Dr. Maluchnik said. “I look forward to partnering with you on this journey. I’m very excited to work with the students, the staff, the board, and the community members to help this district continue to grow.”
Over the past two decades, Dr. Maluchnik has established himself as an accomplished administrator while serving the Wilkinsburg, Greensburg Salem, Everett Area, and Orange County School Districts. As Superintendent at Wilkinsburg, Dr. Maluchnik’s priorities focused on implementing new curriculum, enhancing student resources and supports, and improving individual and districtwide academic performance.
Dr. Maluchnik earned his doctorate from Point Park University, his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the California University of Pennsylvania (now PennWest California), and his Bachelor’s degree in Business Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He received his Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility from Gannon University. For the past 25 years, Dr. Maluchnik has also actively served in the United States Army Reserves, including service during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He currently serves as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 with the 316th Expeditionary Support Company out of the Army Reserve base in Coraopolis.
“We have to give our kids an opportunity to be creators and innovators in the world that they’re going to face,” Dr. Maluchnik said. “I promise you I will work diligently to equip our students and to equip our staff with the tools that they need to excel beyond the classroom, to be career ready, to be college ready, and to be work ready.”
