FEBURARY 10TH, 2023

Good Afternoon Students, Parents and Families,

It seems like a good time to touch base with everyone with a few reminders and important updates. It is really hard to believe how quickly the Winter Break and New Year’s flew past and that we are well into February. As we enter our third grading period, let’s stay committed to our resolve and action items. Our focus of creating new opportunities and greater expectations for students while infusing additional supports and mentorships have the District on a positive path.

Today I had the chance to visit another successful ‘Student Summit’ hosted at Woodland Hills High School. We welcomed nine School Districts’ Student Leaders to break-out sessions and communal activities. Ms. Erin Wall again did a fabulous job of planning and organizing a powerful event! The culmination speech given by Mr. Leon Ford is one we will all remember.

Our High School Course Catalog was approved last Wednesday, February 8th by the Board of Directors, so students will soon be completing their course requests. Our aggressive AP and Honors offerings and diverse curriculum choices challenge any public or private school in our area. We are proud of our plan and remain committed to continually reviewing and revising it to stay progressive.

Some important upcoming dates:

Wednesday, February 15, 2023 – School Board Legislative Meeting – 7:00 pm

Monday, February 27th, 2023 – All Parent Meeting – Board Room and on Zoom – 5:00 pm

Tuesday, February 28th, 2023 – Wolverine Pep Talk with Dr. White – Board Room and on Zoom – 5:00 pm

For the next three weeks, we have full weeks of instruction without any breaks. Our next break for students is a month away on Friday, March 10th, which is a staff in-service day. We are nearing the end of winter time in Pittsburgh so that means fluctuating weather, canceled plans, delays and sometimes…we all get a little stir crazy. We will raise our words, not our voice…we will raise our support, not our anger….we will raise our communication, not our impatience. As a school community we recognize that our District is an extension of the community and vice versa, so your support and collaboration will help us to maintain a positive climate.

Your continued support is appreciated much more than you know!

Lastly…just for one weekend we are all Eagles fans! Best of Luck to Miles Sanders and his Family!
