* The number of active cases per school represents those staff and students who tested positive and are in isolation during the most recent 10-day rolling period.
As we continue our fight against COVID-19, it is important for us to remind our families and communities of its seriousness. Currently, data is showing that Allegheny County's positive COVID cases are significantly low. As such, the district has moved to a mask optional policy. However, in order for us to continue to keep our students, staff, and families safe, if a student has been exposed to COVID -19 or has tested positive, the student should quarantine, and notification should be made to the school nurse in a timely fashion so that we can begin contact tracing. If we are unable to perform contact tracing because of the failure to be properly notified, we have to take precautions and consider extreme measures such as suspending extra-curricular activities or moving to remote instruction.
We know that the most effective mitigation strategies are:
— Consistent and proper use of a mask/face covering
— Symptom screening and COVID testing
— Full vaccination of all vaccine eligible individuals
— Isolation/quarantine of the unvaccinated, exposed population and the fully vaccinated symptomatic
and/or exposed population
Together we can fight Covid-19.
