Men of Valor program hosts basketball clinic
Post
The Men of Valor program hosted a basketball clinic over the weekend. The new initiative is dedicated to providing mentorship to young men who are struggling academically, socially and behaviorally. Men of Valor provides these young men with role models and guidance. In turn, they can have a positive impact on their community and their school through service projects.
One of our new initiatives in 2023 is the Men of Valor program. The brainchild of high school Dean of Students Mr. Brown when he was in the McKeesport Area School District, the program received approval in the fall and launched last month.
It is dedicated to providing mentorship to young men who are struggling academically, socially and behaviorally. Men of Valor provides these young men with role models and guidance. In turn, they can have a positive impact on their community and their school through service projects.
The first community service project was a basketball clinic held this weekend at the high school. The clinic focused on basketball fundamentals, as well as the importance of teamwork, communication, positive social skills, and more. Several members of the high school boys basketball team helped out, as did alumni and volunteers.
Along with Mr. Brown, the Men of Valor program features mentorship from Mr. Youngblood, Mr. Grinage, Mr. Ferguson and Sgt. Valles. Please reach out to one of them if you would like more information about this new initiative!
