WOODLAND HILLS AND THE GENE KELLY AWARDS

The Woodland Hills School District was formed in 1981 out of the merger of Churchill, Edgewood, General Braddock, Swissvale, and Turtle Creek School Districts. At the start of the 1987-88 school year, the district brought all of its high school students together as Woodland Hills High School. Since then, the performing arts program has been a source of pride for the district and the region.

The Gene Kelly Awards began in 1991 as a way to recognize the outstanding musical theater talent in the Pittsburgh region. Woodland Hills is honored to have been a fixture in the awards show every year since its formation.

As of 2026, Woodland Hills has been nominated for 271 Gene Kelly Awards. It has been the recipient of an Outstanding Musical award 14 times.
