Welcome back, Woodland Hills faculty and staff!
Tuesday, August 19 served as the official Opening Day for the 2025-26 school year, as teachers, staff members, and administrators gathered to highlight key initiatives and share important messages for the school year.
Teachers and staff were welcomed with signs, a continental breakfast, balloons, and more, thanks to the work of Wilkins teacher Ms. Michelle Sperduto. Members of the high school cheerleading team brought some school spirit, while choir participants led the staff in the Pledge of Allegiance and a rendition of the Woodland Hills Alma Mater to open the day's proceedings.
Throughout the day, the group heard from a number of leaders and partners throughout the district, including school board president Ms. Terri Lawson and vice president Ms. Laura Arthrell; leadership from the Woodland Hills Education Association; and the head of each administration department in the district.
The 2025 Opening Day was superintendent Dr. Joe Maluchnik's first in the district since being hired earlier this year. Dr. Maluchnik closed out the morning's agenda with a presentation detailing his vision for the year ahead, as well as some words of encouragement and support as a new year unfolds.
The entire district is excited to welcome back students, beginning with kindergarten orientation on Wednesday, August 20 and the first day of school on Thursday, August 21.
