Food Resources and Services for Families

With the ongoing uncertainty regarding the availability of SNAP benefits for our students and families, the Woodland Hills School District has compiled a list of resources and services available to families in need. 

Please do not hesitate to reach out to school social workers, building administrators, or district administration if your family is in need. The Woodland Hills School District is here to help in any way possible.

LOCAL RESOURCES 

  • RentHelpPGH has compiled resources for food assistance, housing assistance, and other needs in the region.
  • Greater Valley Community Services
    • 300 Holland Avenue in Braddock
    • Food resources on the first Thursday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • North Braddock Free Fridge
    • 609 6th Street in North Braddock
    • Updated often, always accepting donations
  • Unity Baptist Church
    • 420 5th Street in Braddock
    • Food resources available on third Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Bridge City Church
    • 1200 Wolfe Avenue in North Braddock
    • Food resources available on first and third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Rankin Christian Center
    • 230 Third Avenue in Rankin
    • Food resources available on November 5th and 19th, December 3rd and 16th from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Holliday Memorial AME Church 
    • 600 Talbot Avenue in Braddock
    • Resources available most Fridays on the table outside of the church
  • Grow Pittsburgh is offering a $5 SNAP discount at local farm stands during the benefits disruption.

  • PA Navigate - Helps with finding food and other resources. Search by zip code.
  • PA211 - Resource for finding certified local assistance for a variety of needs.
  • FeedingPA - Help finding local food banks and other food assistance programs.
  • If you're struggling to balance purchasing food alongside your electric and/or gas bills, many gas and electric companies offer utility assistance programs for qualifying customers. Call your service provider or visit the PA PUC's utility assistance website for more information.
