The District wishes to address recent public statements made by State Representative Abilgail Salisbury regarding alleged misuse of public funds and questions concerning the Superintendent's current administrative leave.
Representative Salisbury’s statement has not set forth any specific allegations. Moreover, she has never requested information or asked for a meeting with District officials to express concerns. The District has no information that would indicate misappropriation of any public money. The financial health of our District remains strong, with a current fund balance of over $11 million. Our fiscal management practices are subject to regular audits and oversight, and we remain committed to the responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
Additionally, regarding the Superintendent's administrative leave, the Board is legally prohibited from commenting on the details surrounding personnel matters. This is not a matter of unwillingness to be transparent with our community—it is a legal requirement that protects the privacy rights of all District employees.
The Board understands the community's desire for information and shares the commitment to transparency in all matters where the law permits. We encourage Representative Salisbury to contact the District to discuss her specific concerns about District finances.
We appreciate the community's continued support of our schools and students.
