Wilkins hosts STEM Story Night with U.S. Steel, Pens Foundation

A huge thanks to U.S. Steel and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation for visiting Wilkins on Thursday, January 22 for our STEM Story Night!

We're so glad that Chris Hannigan of U.S. Steel and the Edgar Thomson Steel Works connected with us to help deepen our partnership with U.S. Steel and the Penguins. Chris worked with Tina Dietrich, the district's Director of STEAM and Innovation, to put Thursday night's event together.

Our students and families read a story with Chris and had some fun completing STEM-related activities. U.S. Steel purchased a book for every student in attendance and will give a book to every classroom teacher.
They also helped stock the Reading Champions Program book vending machine.

Of course, the big hit was a visit from IceBurgh! The Penguins mascot had some fun with the students and even got into a dance off with Ms. Kline!

Be on the lookout for additional STEM Story Nights coming to Edgewood and Turtle Creek later this school year!
